Laryngitis and Apple Cider Vinegar

Laryngitis is an inflammation of the throat or larynx. It can mean anything from the inconvenience of a hoarse voice to the more serious complete loss of your voice.

If it is acute it will probably only last a few days but the chronic version may take over 3 weeks to clear up.

Because laryngitis is often caused by a bacterial, fungal or viral infection, apple cider vinegar is very effective as a home remedy. A gargle mixture of organic, raw ACV works miracles against all kinds of germs that attack the throat and mouth.

Your gargle mixture should consist of 1 tsp ACV to 4 ounces of water and should be used 3 times in a row, once each hour.

Because of the benefits of drinking apple cider vinegar you will probably be tempted to drink the solution after gargling; Don’t because it will be full of throat and mouth germs and toxins which you don’t need in your system. Spit it out.

When your throat starts to feel better you can reduce your gargling to every 3 hours; that is three times every 3 hours.

Gargling with apple cider vinegar is helpful with any condition where gargling is recommended. Keep this one in your arsenal for future use.

Use a Vinegar Compress

In addition to taking ACV internally you should also try a vinegar compress. Soak a thin cloth in apple cider vinegar and place it over your throat. Your skin will absorb the vinegar directly.

To assist with the vinegar absorption you will want to heat the area with a towel soaked in hot water and wrung out to avoid drips. Place a barrier of saran wrap between the two cloths to keep the hot water from diluting the vinegar.

This compress will also help with conditions such as colds, flu, asthma, bronchitis and chest pains.
