Acid Indigestion
The Vinegar Solution

Most people, when they hear the term acid indigestion, immediately think you are referring to an excess of acid in your stomach.

With that in mind, the next logical course of action is to reach for the antacid pills to calm it down.

This is a common mistake which, if taken repeatedly could lead to some very serious health consequences.

Add Acid NOT AntAcid

Indigestion / Heartburn

Indigestion is not the same as heartburn, which usually is an aggravation of the oesophagus.

The causes however, may be the same so vinegar should also work as a remedy.

You may be surprised to hear that Indigestion is often caused by a lack of acid in your stomach rather than an excess.

In fact, it has been my experience that a lack of acid in the stomach is much more common than too much.

Why is this? Consider the following.

According to Wikipedia, the common causes of acid indigestion are:

  • eating too many fatty foods
  • eating too much spicy foods
  • drinking too much alcohol
  • drinking too much caffeine
  • smoking

Are there excess amounts of acids in these foods or drink? If not then where does all the excess acid come from to cause you so much discomfort? Is there really an excess of stomach acid?

Maybe we are looking at this the wrong way. If an excess of stomach acid is not causing your acid indigestion ...

What is Really Happening?

If your body is not producing enough acid in your stomach, the food you just ate is not processed the way it should be.

Your body's answer? Send it back.

Some of this partially digested food goes back up your esophagus. Mixed in with this undigested food are the acids produced in your stomach. These acids do not belong there and will irritate the lining of your esophagus leading to the pain that you are experiencing.

Because acid caused your pain, you reach for "over the counter" antacids to neutralize it. Problem solved right? Your pain is gone, at least temporarily.

The problem with this course of action is, like many traditional remedies you buy in the store, an antacid deals with the symptom not the underlying problem.

If you re-read my first sentence you will see that this situation started with "not enough acid in your stomach". - But what did you just do??

The antacid you just took only disguised the original problem and its prolonged use will likely create more serious problems down the road.

GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) is the term used to refer to Acid Reflux and Heartburn.  GERD Symptoms

The truth is most indigestion occurs when your body is unable to generate enough acid to process the foods you eat so you need to supplement acid from other sources.

Here is a statement most people have a lot of problem “swallowing”.

The easiest way to relieve your symptoms
is to take a teaspoon of vinegar!

Boy do I ever get the looks when I tell someone that!

Sometimes there is no amount of persuading on my part to convince them to give it a try but in the cases where I have been present to personally observe the results …

Vinegar Has Always Worked on Acid Indigestion

In every case, when someone has taken my advice about vinegar and indigestion, they have experienced immediate relief and many have become crusaders for my cause.

Don't believe me? Need to consult another source?

How about Wikipedia?

“The consumption of small amounts of light, purer acids, like white vinegar may grant relief.

Pickles can be used in lieu of such things.

This should be tried prior to the consumption of antacids, as the issue could be not excess but lack of acid in the stomach.”

A direct quote from Wikipedia

The next time you feel heartburn or acid indigestion, reach for your bottle of vinegar and get instant relief.

Also include Apple Cider Vinegar as part of an ongoing GERD diet.

Believe me!

I have seen it work time and time again.

Honest!

Many common problems can be treated at home with natural remedies. Treating problems with these remedies can save you time and money, and in many cases, improve your overall well-bring, without the health risks that drug-based remedies can bring.
