Urinary Track Infection

Urinary Tract Infection

A urinary track infection usually occurs when bacteria such as E. coli take up residence in your urinary system which includes your bladder, kidneys, ureters, and urethra. It is more common in women than in men.

If your infection lasts more than a couple days you should seek professional help as a UTI can spread quickly to your kidneys causing serious problems.

Apple cider vinegar has been known to help with a urinary tract infection and I will discuss this further down the page but first I would like to start with a couple cautions ...

If this is your first instance of a UTI you should probably see your doctor to make sure you are not mixing up your diseases/infections.

In fact you should probably see your doctor anyway as I don't think this condition is something you should fool around with. Just let him/her know that you would like to try natural remedies rather than antibiotics.

Your doctor will probably give you an antibiotic and advise you to drink lots of water to flush out the infection. I am sure this will work for you at least the first time.

Please don't read into this that I am recommending you not see the doctor for subsequent infections. I am not a doctor and do not pretend to give medical advice.   see disclaimer for more information

Unfortunately as we all know antibiotics become less effective the more often you use them so this method will probably become less desirable if you have reoccurring bouts of urinary track infection. In any case ...

How does Vinegar Help Urinary Track Infection?

Vinegar is a strong natural acetic acid or ethanoic acid which is safe to use both internally and externally.

Taken Internally with water, its acidic properties will help restore your body’s pH balance to normal levels.

Warning: If at any time you experience severe symptoms such as blood in your urine, severe pain, fever or chills, you should discontinue whatever home remedy you are currently using and seek immediate medical attention.

Apple Cider Vinegar has a powerful affect on your urinary tract and is a beneficial addition to your daily diet even when you are healthy. Taken with lots of good clean water (preferably alkaline water) vinegar will help flush out the bacteria in your system and eliminate the active infection.

Apple Cider Vinegar is a rich source of potassium and enzymes which discourage bacterial growth and cause it to release it's hold from your urinary tract so that it can be flushed out of your system.

Mix 1 tablespoon of raw unpasteurized Apple Cider Vinegar (with the Mother) with 8 ounces of water or juice and drink the mixture 3 times a day. I find hot water helps take the edge off the taste. Others mix it with honey, apple juice or lemon juice to make it taste better.

Take Externally by adding 1 cup of Apple Cider Vinegar to your bath to relieve the burning sensation of a urinary track infection
